If you currently use an older more established domain name, it may not be in your best interests to switch over to a new one for SEO/SEM purposes.

It is actually the perfect time. In order to facilitate both initial Search Engine Rankings and long term internet marketing objectives, both the Domain name and website content should ideally revolve around the appropriate keywords for your industry whenever possible.

SEOs and keywords are the baits that attracts the fish to you domain. It's fine that you have to pay to get a domain name, but there are "re-sellers" of domain names that want to make a quick buck. That really bites.

Its not wrong buying domain name such like these, but these are less valuable than ".com"
Suppose i get a domain name as "xyz.net" and another "xyz.com",
the domain name "xyz.com" will be more popular, as Google lays more emphasis on ".com"

According to me, firstly choosing a domain name is the major task. For seo, a domain name plays a major role. The points under "What should your domain name do? " are very important in selecting a domain name. ".com" is the best one according to me, as well as according to the author.

.com has higher chance of getting its targeted traffic because a lot of people are most familiarized with it unlike edu, org, gov..
